Seven tonne truck required to take away material in Joseph Faul's flat

A Chiswick man has been jailed for a year after being convicted of possessing thousands of obscene pornographic images in what is believed to be the biggest single seizure of such material for many years.

A seven and a half tonne truck was needed to carry away the material from the man's home, following a joint investigation by the UK Border Agency and Metropolitan Police

Joseph Faul, 48, of Beaulieu Place, W4 was arrested after agency officers working at Coventry international parcel hub intercepted a number of film spools showing indecent images of children and images of bestiality.

A court in Isleworth heard that there was obscene material in every room of his two bedroom fflat. Officers from the Agency's criminal and financial investigation team found thousands of items of pornography and equipment used to make and copy DVDs, when they searched his flat.

Faul was arrested by UK Border Agency officers, who then alerted officers from the Metropolitan Police Service Abusive and Extreme Images Unit (SCD9).

Acting Detective Inspector Jez Hirst of the Metropolitan Police Service said: 'We believe this to be the biggest single seizure of images of this type for many years. Our officers are dedicated to prosecuting those involved in the making and distribution of indecent images of children and extreme pornography.'

Described as a financial adviser, Faul is thought to have used the gains from selling the obscene material to buy rare art.

Faul admitted 19 different charges last year, including the making and possession of indecent images of children, and the possession of extreme pornography.

A judge at Isleworth Crown Court jailed him for 12 months and placed him on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.
