Reports of Bogus Builders in the Area

Police investigating claims that Southfield Road targeted

Residents in the Southfield Road area have been warned to be on the alert for bogus builders. According to local Liberal Democrat councillor Gary Malcolm, police have been called in to investigate complaints from local people.

He said : ' There have been several incidents on the ward where residents have reported men posing as builders and offering building work. These men are described as white and have south London accents. They claim to work for a company called Howden's Building Services. This company is not registered and is not legitimate.'

They are using another company's address which is called Howden's Joinery as their apparent office however the company Howden's Joinery deny all knowledge of these men and the services they offer according to Cllr. Malcolm.

Mr. Malcolm has asked that neighbours inform each other of the need to be extra vigilant of persons approaching their homes and offering building services.
