Gardeners say strimmers and beer were stolen
Police are investigating a break-in at the Chertsey Road allotments in Chiswick during which gardening equipment was stolen.
Local people reported that the lock on the gate had been cut last Friday, and that several sheds had been damaged.
One allotment owner said the thieves had also stolen cans of beer from one shed, as well as a can of petrol, an extension flex and other items.
A police spokesman said they had been advised of one theft of a strimmer.
Allotment owners have asked the public to beware of being offered items of gardening equipment which might have been stolen from them.
