Teenager died after party at Brian Dodgeon's home

The father of a girl whose 15-year-old friend died after taking drugs during a party at his home has been charged with possessing drugs.

Brian Dodgeon, 61, a research fellow at the University of London's Institute of Education, faces five counts of drugs possession.

Chiswick Community School student Issy Jones-Reilly fell ill at the house in Barlby Road, north Kensington, on 23 April 2011 and died later in hospital.

Three other children including Mr. Dodgeon's daughter were admitted to hospital at the same time but suffered no long term effects.

An inquest into the death of Issy heard how she and three of her friends took pills thought to be ecstasy they found in a bedroom cupboard. The inquest heard how Beatrice, in whose home the party was being held, had searched her parent's bedroom "looking for something that they could enjoy."

Mr. Dodgeon and his partner, Angela Hadjipateras, were away for the night visiting friends in Hastings but told their neighbours about the party and had asked one of them to keep an eye on things.

Soon after the incident Mr. Dodgeon threw himself off a bridge breaking both of his legs on the North Circular Road in an apparent suicide attempt.

He is due to appear at West London Magistrates' Court on next week accused of possession a number of drugs including ecstasy, LSD, ketamine and diazepam.
