New figures show a mixed picture for crime in and around local tube and train stations. The data compiled by British Transport police covers the period up to August this year.

Chiswick's most crime prone station station is Turnham Green which saw 34 offences during the period an increase of 17.2%. Much of the rise was due to an increase in public order offences but incidents of criminal damage at the station were brought down to zero. The rise comes during a period when the station has been regularly closed late at night for a prolonged station refurbishment.

Chiswick Park station saw a 150% rise in crime with public order offences being the main cause. However there were only 15 incidents at the station during the period in question.

There was a very different picture for the mainline station at in Grove Park (Chiswick). A 78.2% fall in offences was mainly due to a previous problem with consistent criminal damage. There were only 6 offences committed at the station between January and August this year.

Gunnersbury station also saw a drop in crime but much of the decrease was due to fewer pedal cycles being stolen at the station. Stamford Brook also saw a fall with violence against the person offences down significantly. However, residents and businesses around the station still feel there is an issue with crime in the area.
