British Transport Police have released a CCTV image after a 19-year-old woman was targeted in an attempted robbery at Stamford Brook Underground station.

The incident happened on Tuesday 25 November, shortly before 11.30pm, when a man followed the victim off a District line train. As she made her way up the station stairs, he tried to snatch her phone, grabbing at it repeatedly and ripping her jacket during the struggle.

Other passengers stepped in, prompting the suspect to flee. He boarded another train and left the station before officers arrived.

Detectives believe the man pictured in the CCTV image may hold vital information that could assist the investigation.

Anyone who recognises him is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 506 of 25 November.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
