Man Who Dismembered Ex-Chiswick School Pupil Shot Dead

A man who was jailed for helping to dismember and dispose of the body of a former Chiswick school pupil has been shot dead.
21-year-old Janayo Lucima was gunned down on Comeragh Road on Monday night (1 April). He was pronounced dead at the scene after the police were called to the area at 10:54pm.
In 2021, he had been sent to a Young Offenders’ Institution for perverting the course of justice for three years and three months. He had been found guilty of helping to dismember and dispose of the body parts of 53-year-old William ‘Blaise’ Algar who had been murdered by a gang of drug dealers who had taken over his home in Barnes . Mr Algar, who suffered with mental health-related issues and drug misuse, was last seen alive on 1 December 2019, when he was spotted on CCTV cycling in Barnes near his home.
Nobody had ever been held responsible for the murder of the popular jazz musician who played the trumpet and attended Chiswick School between 1977 and 1984 but members of the gang believed to have been involved are in jail for killing a rival drug dealer. Shortly after Blaise was murdered, 35-year-old Ebrima Cham, was also killed in a "frenzied attack" at a flat in Hounslow on 19 December 2019.
At their trial it was heard how when Blaise had argued with gang member Emeka Dawuda-Wodu over money, he had threatened to kill Blaise’s cat which subsequently disappeared. Blaise was later stabbed to death and cut up in the bath in his house with a zombie knife
with his arms and legs being disposed of on Hounslow Heath. Police found his head and torso at his home address a month later after he was reported missing by his mother.
At a trial at the Old Bailey, prosecutor Crispin Aylett QC said the attack on Mr Algar was "of extraordinary viciousness beyond anger". Dawuda-Wodu and Simon Emmons were given life sentences with a minimum of 31 years for the murder of Mr Cham and perverting the course of justice in relation to Mr Algar. Zimele Dube received a 28-year sentence for the same offences. 45-year-old Marc Harding was jailed along with Lucima for perverting the course of justice with no evidence presented that they were present when Blaise was killed.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation into Lucima’s death, said, “This horrific incident took place at a busy time of the evening when many people in the area would have been going out, coming home from work or an evening out, or may have been driving through Comeragh Road, Barton Road or Palliser Road. I am keen to hear from these people.
“Detectives remain in the area and I urge anyone with information to speak to officers directly or contact us online or via 101. If you can help please reach out to us.
“Were you in the area between 9.40pm and 10.30pm? Did you see a group of males on foot or on the bikes? Did you hear any shouting or witness any type of altercation or something that appeared suspicious? Do you have dashcam footage of anything that could assist our investigation?”

The police say the investigation into Mr Algar's murder remains open and will be subject to periodic review.
