Footage showing the moment when a murder suspect was detained by armed police in Chiswick earlier this year has been shown to a jury.

The film which was taken from a helicopter, covers the high-speed pursuit of Thomas Schreiber on 7 April, was presented as evidence in his murder trial. As many as 16 police vehicles were involved in the chase with officers from Wiltshire Police, Hampshire Constabulary, Thames Valley Police, Surrey Police and the Metropolitan Police all assisting as the vehicle progressed along the A303, M3 and A4.

The 34-year-old man was chased in his Range Rover across several counties of England reaching speeds of up to 135mph before a 'hard stop' was undertaken in which one of the pursuing vehicles deliberately caused a collision on the High Road.

The car is seen leaving Chiswick Roundabout and travelling east along the High Road past Gunnersbury Station. It then crosses to the wrong side of the road before being brought to a stop near the junction with Marlborough Road.

Body-worn footage was also shown in court which shows him being dragged from the car and tasered after an officer shouted 'armed police' at him. The officers removed his clothing to find the source of his wounds. He repeatedly asks officers to shoot him to which one replied, "Mate, that's not going to happen, stop asking."

When arrested Mr Schreiber was found to have suffered non-life threating self-inflicted gunshot wounds and taken to hospital. He was being sought after a double-stabbing in Dorset in which multi-millionaire hotel owner Sir Richard Sutton died and his wife, Anne Schreiber, who is the accused's 66-year-old mother, was severely injured and remains paralysed in hospital.

His mother gave video testimony describing the moment when she was stabbed and explaining that her son had found it difficult to come to terms with the death of his father and her relationship with Sir Richard.

Mr Schreiber, of Gillingham, Dorset, is on trial at Winchester Crown Court accused of the murder, attempted murder and dangerous driving. He has admitted the manslaughter of Sir Richard and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. He has denied murder and the attempted murder of his mother and the trial continues.
