Funding Boost for Chiswick House Creative Campus Plan

A project to build a creative campus in the gardens of Chiswick House has received a boost following a major funding grant from Hounslow Council.
£384,809 has been given from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), money that is raised from developers as a condition of being given planning permission.
The project, which is led by the Chiswick House and Garden Trust, requested £600,000 but the balance is expected to come from local CIL and Thriving Communities Fund.
The council was dividing up £3.2 million of CIL funds and this was the second largest grant with the biggest being funding for Priority Cycle Route 7 in Heston and Cranford which received £1,000,000.
The Cedar Yards Community & Creative Campus is to be built on a disused space adjacent to the Kitchen Garden and would provide workspace for up to 100 artists and makers. It aims to addresses a number of borough wide and local objectives around employment and training opportunities, volunteering, biodiversity/green spaces, and heritage. Underused historic buildings and green spaces will be developed to create new facilities.
The total project cost is estimated to be £5.2 million with the balance expected to be raised from private and charitable sources. It has already been given a £180,000 grant from the Mayor’s £1.2m Creative Enterprise Zone Sustainability Capital Grant Fund.
