Chiswick House & Gardens Celebrates Green Flag Award
Judges hail staff and volunteers as 'huge asset' to the community
Chiswick House and Gardens has for the first time been admitted to the Green Flag Award Scheme.
The estate is now among a record-breaking 1,970 UK parks and green spaces and 131 in thirteen other countries around the world, that received a prestigious award.
This international award, now into its third decade, is a sign to the public that the space has the high environmental standards, is well-maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.
Caroline Busby, CHGT Interim Director said, “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the first time. It is a real testament to the hard work and dedication of the gardeners, volunteers, Gavin Jones and the whole estate staff. We know how much the estate means to Chiswick residents and visitors and this award celebrates the work put in to maintain the estate to such a high standard.”

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said, “It’s fantastic that we have more Green Flag Awards in the UK than ever before, joined this year by 131 International winners. We congratulate each and every winner on their fantastic achievement.”
Chiswick House is an18th century villa set in classically landscaped gardens in West London. One of the earliest and finest examples of neoclassical architecture in the UK, the house was designed from 1727-29 by Richard Boyle, 3rd Earl of Burlington and 4th Earl of Cork, and his associate the painter, gardener and architect, William Kent. Both the house and its gardens are Grade 1 listed and the villa itself is a scheduled ancient monument.
