Approval has been given by Hounslow's Licensing Panel to a ‘Cheese and Provisions’ on Chiswick High Road.

The event will take place in front of the Police Station down as far as Devonshire Road every third Sunday of the month from 9.30am to 3pm. It was approved by councillors at a virtual meeting on Wednesday (20 January).

It is understood that the first market will take place on 21 February and the following five months.

The application was made on behalf of Cookbook Kitchen CIC a recently formed community interest company based in Prebend Gardens.

It plans to sell cheese, meats, vegetables, deli items, bread, cakes, pastries and cookbooks. There will be a maximum of 23 stalls under current Covid-19 required social distancing rules. This will increase to 29 when restrictions are lifted.

Originally the applicant had wanted to hold two markets a month but they revised their submission for only one.

Local ward councillor Ronr Mushiso said, “I am delighted with the decision by the Licensing Panel. I think this market will bring further footfall to Chiswick High Rd and traders will benefit. This is yet another example of Chiswick finding ways to revive the High Rd through the community.”

The Chiswick Flower market has been run in the same space three times. The next one is planned on 7 March.

The first Antiques market was due to take place on 13 December but was cancelled due to last minute issues with paperwork relating to Covid-19 precautions. It is classed as a non-essential market under the rules of the latest lockdown so is not set to proceed until these restrictions are lifted.
