Local School Students Run 2012 Kms

Charities will benefit from a succession of mini marathons

Chiswick students are amongst the 166 Year Seven pupils at Latymer Upper School who have set themselves a challenge to run 2012 kilometres over the next few weeks.

The runs amount to over 47 marathons, and the final run is on June 20th. Several children have opted to run six runs, a total of 25 kilometres. To meet the target of 2012 kms, each child must run roughly 12.5 kms.

The students are running alongside the river up as far as Barnes Bridge, and starting outside the Latymer Prep School.

The students have been fundraising since before the Easter holidays and they have already raised over £7,000. A final push is now on to cross the £10,000 mark. The money raised will be split evenly between two charities chosen by the Year 7 students - the NSPCC and the Katie Piper Foundation.

Head of Fundraising at The Katie Piper Foundation, Carol Borwick comments, “We’re so grateful to the Year 7 pupils at Latymer for fundraising on our behalf. The money raised will help us make a positive difference to burns survivors through life-changing treatments and workshops”.
