Night Of 1000 Voices At Royal Albert Hall


Chiswick man is Director at gala fundraiser

Chiswick resident Hugh Wooldridge will direct the Night of 1000 Voices concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, May 6th. The event, which will raise funds for a cancer charity, will be hosted by Downton Abbey star Hugh Bonneville.

The concert will take place at 4pm & 8pm, with all proceeds going to blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Hugh Wooldridge has lived in Chiswick for over 25 years, and is an international writer and director specialising in musical theatre events. He has been associated with The Night of 1000 Voices since 1999 which has in the past featured artists including Cliff Richard, Michael Ball, Brian May and Elaine Paige.

Other credits include ‘An Evening with Alan Jay Lerner’ as writer and director (Julie Andrews, Liza Minelli) in New York, ‘The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber’ (Sarah Brightman and others),the Royal Anniversary Gala (with Trevor Nunn) to celebrate the 50 th wedding anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen and numerous other musical productions both in the UK and abroad.

Hugh says;

“This evening is a must for all who love musicals. Come along and hear the best performers in the world performing some of the greatest songs. Come and join in the fun; come and raise funds for this most splendid charity whilst raising the roof of the Royal Albert Hall.”

Performers include Kerry Ellis, Peter Polycarpou and Bonnie Langford plus special VIP guests.

For this Olympic and Diamond Jubilee Year, The Night of 1000 Voices will be celebrating the Best of British including some of the most requested songs from Evita, The Lion King, Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Misérables and, new for 2012, Miss Saigon.

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is dedicated to saving lives through leading UK research into better treatments and cures for all blood cancers including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on people coming together to fundraise.

The West End’s distinguished maestros, Stuart Morley and David Firman, will once again supervise the massed musical forces.
