CHISWICK BUSINESS PARK NAMED UK'S BEST OFFICE DEVELOPMENT The Chiswick Business Park development has been named as the UK's best office developments for 2002. The project scooped three of the awards in this year's British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards and has been selected, out of the sixty-two entries, as the winner of the BCO's top award - Best of the Best. It has also won the national award in the Commercial Workplace category and taken the regional award for the best commercial workplace within the M25. Designed by Richard Rogers and Stanhope (the developer behind projects such as Stockley Park, Broadgate and Mid-City Place), the scheme will eventually comprise some 1.15 million sq ft of office space, accommodating some 10,000 employees. Organisations currently based within the park include Foxtons, One.Tel (Centrica), Teletext and France Telecom. The BCO judges said that Chiswick Park just lifts itself ahead of the other schemes which received awards this year because of the breadth of fronts upon which they felt it scores. "From the enterprise involved in identifying the opportunity and commissioning its development, through design and construction, to the level of service to tenants, it displays the touch of a practised client who continues to innovate without gimmick, and to pay attention to the full life cycle of a development project." The project was praised for its commitment to sustainability which was said to be served by site location (opposite the underground station and on several bus routes), by the use of fixed and adjustable solar shading, and by displacement ventilation delivered through floor grilles, reducing the overall cooling load.
