Hogarth Flyover Closed After Ramp Blocked
Car has appeared to have misjudged entrance and mounted kerb

Hogarth Flyover was closed this Thursday afternoon (17 September) after a car blocked the entrance to the ramp.
A red four door Vauxhall Astra appears to have misjudged the entry point from the A316 Burlington Lane where the road is narrowed to prevent overwide vehicles getting onto the bridge. The car mounted the kerb and became stuck.
Hounslow Police are advising drivers to avoid Burlington Lane.
Earlier this year a double decker coach belonging to National Express was seen crossing the flyover. The driver scraped the side of their vehicle when they went through the width restrictions at the entry to the bridge which should prevent any vehicle above 6ft 6 inches wide from crossing.

The following day a lorry also became stuck at the same point but there were no reports of a prolonged closure of the flyover as a result.

In May a camper van blocked the flyover after seemingly ignoring signs and bollards advising of the width restriction on the bridge and being unable to proceed having got half way up the ramp.
The Hogarth Flyover was meant to be a temporary solution when it was built in the early 1970s but plans for a permanent replacement were shelved and the steel frame bridge remains in place. It has recently been refurbished.
