Man Killed After Being Hit by Bus Near Hartington Road


Witnesses sought to death of 47-year-old man in the early hours of Saturday morning

A 47-year-old man was killed this Saturday morning (2 July) after being hit by a bus in Chiswick.

The collision occurred on the A316 Great Chertsey road near the junction with Hartington Road at around 5.30am.

The victim was tended to by the emergency services at the scene but was pronounced dead at 6pm. Although a formal identification has yet to take place police have already informed his next of kin.

The bus driver stopped at the scene. He has not been arrested and is assisting detectives with their enquires. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Merton are investigating.

The A316 was closed between Chalkers Corner and the Hogarth Roundabout leading to substantial delays in the Chiswick area.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the events leading up to the incident or the collision between the pedestrian and the bus, which was out of service at the time.

Despite the time of morning there would have been a number of other road users around and they are keen to hear from anyone who has any information.
