Edible High Road Created for Chelsea Fringe Festival

Two of the fifty-five trees were stolen on the first evening

Abundance London’s Edible High Road got off to a successful start when the fruit trees were set up outside the participating shops. It is Chiswick’s contribution to the very first ever Chelsea Fringe, an offshoot of the Chelsea Flower Show.

However volunteers were disappointed when two fruit trees were stolen from outside the shops on Saturday evening, only hours after they had been placed there. Abundance have now warned business people involved to bring in the pots at night for safety.

Lots of children have been joining in the amazing Treasure Trail with especially good prizes for the first ten to complete the trail. There are loads of prizes for those who complete the Trail over the next three weeks too!

A selection of the fruit trees displayed outside shops

Over 50 of Chiswick’s shops have joined together at Abundance London to create a river of fruit trees. Restaurants, dry cleaners, chiropracters, bars, fashion outlets and banks are all sponsors of a new orchard along the High Road and other main shopping streets. After the Fringe ends on June 10th, the trees will be replanted in the surrounding streets, schools and parks
