Bank Staff Get Dirty At Dukes Meadows

They swop the office for fresh air at Edible Playground

Banking staff from local HSBC offices swopped the financial market for the garden last week when they volunteered to help with the Edible Playground at Dukes Meadows.

The Edible Playground, planted round the swings and slides at Dukes Meadows is looking spring like with clouds of newly-planted daffodils brightening the beds.

With the threat of drought looming, it was essential to mulch the 100 currant bushes that were planted out by volunteers last winter. The HSBC staff, from the Ealing and Hounslow area, helped wheel tonnes of moisture-retentive bark supplied by the Council around each fruit bush. The organisers are hoping for lots of currants for the summer.

The Edible Playground project is organised by Dukes Meadows Trust, in conjunction with Abundance London. New volunteers are always welcome and should contact Hugh Fenton Anwyll on admin@dukesmeadowstrust.org or phone 020 8742 2225 at Dukes Meadow.
