Tommy, Quincey and Upton in the front row
July 7, 2025
Three dogs were part of a group representing Chiswick Guide Dogs at the Turnham Green Community Summer Fair this Saturday (5 July). They were a popular attraction for those attending the event.
They had been invited along by Christ Church W4 as one of a number of local amenity and charity groups to participate in the fair staged with the support of Hounslow Council.
There were three generations of dog including Tommy who is in training, working dog Quincey and Upton now retired, with his owner Heather.
The event included a BBQ, bouncy castle, soft play, lots of craft stalls, face painting, games, community choir, band and refreshments.
Tim Mack, Chiswick Guide Dogs coordinator said, “Thanks to the Christ Church team for organising the Summer Fair and putting us under trees in the shade! Glad the weather was much cooler than it has been and thank you for all the donations”.
With more hot weather forecast next week, the charity says that to help its dogs stay safe and comfortable it ensures there are always plenty of water stops and shaded rest areas, walking early morning and late afternoon including carefully checking the heat of pavements and paths.
Chiswick Guide Dogs started 11 years ago when 3 households were recruited to board dogs in training and 2 are still volunteering for Guide Dogs - boarding, fundraising, visiting local schools and groups with dogs.
The charity is grateful to local people for their support and the four local businesses who have helped us with fundraising by “hosting” Guide Dog Collection dogs and boxes at The Eye Studio on the High Road, Busby’s pharmacy in Grove Park, Youngs Vets and “Short and Tall” who provide coffee and much more at Chiswick station.
