Chiswick Duo Plan Epic Run

From St. Paul's Cathedral, London to Notre Dame, Paris

Two amateur runners who work in Church Street, by the river in Chiswick, have decided to run from London to Paris for charity.

Work colleagues, friends and running mates, Mike Traylen and George Clode will start at St Paul's Cathedral on Tuesday the 8th of October, run for 11 days and then arrive at Notre Dame Cathedral on Friday the 18th October.

Mike said, 'It is 198 miles, 11 days, no doubt countless blisters and hopefully some laughs along the way.

'Most people's initial reaction so far have included words such as "crazy", "mad", "insane", "mental" but it then becomes very positive and the support, advice and donations received so far have been amazing.'

They have mapped out a route which will take them through rural and scenic areas, completing their English leg in Brighton. They will then hop onto a ferry to Dieppe to start their French adventure.

They would thoroughly welcome and appreciate any support, advice and more importantly donations to help them achieve their goal. Their aim is to raise £10,000 for a fantastic cause and charity. The charity they are raising money for is Action Against Cancer – www.aacancer.org.

Mike added, 'Even though we are looking forward to our running adventure, it will be the support from everyone which will make it that much easier and keep us going through the tougher days. We are amateur runners who want to do something special for this charity and by raising as much money as possible, we can really make a difference.'

Action Against Cancer funds the development of cures for cancer at Imperial College, Hammersmith Hospital. The ground-breaking developments they fund focus on developing new diagnostics and treatments to improve the survival prospects and quality of life for millions of cancer sufferers worldwide. This charity has a personal meaning for George as a friend was diagnosed with lung cancer last year and Action Against Cancer have been incredibly supportive throughout his on-going struggle. Despite the late stage at which the cancer was discovered, he remains upbeat and positive, due in no small part to the influence of this hard-working, inspirational charity.

They will be blogging, taking photos along the way and generally keeping people up to date on their progress.
