Eco Shop To Become Cafe And Patisserie

Former shop run by Livia Firth will now be Chateau Dessert

The former Eco-Age shop on Chiswick High Road is to be turned into a cafe and patisserie. Chateau Dessert hopes to open to the public in about three weeks time once renovations have finished.

Chateau Dessert is currently a Heston-based catering company which was set up in 2009 and provides premium desserts for catering, hospitality and airlines, as well as high-profile events.

Director Anette Megyaszai, who lives in Chiswick, said that she wanted to provide "something different" in Chiswick with her new cafe and patisserie although the area already has many coffee shops.

She told ChiswickW4.com that the ground-floor would be a patisserie offering desserts as well as savoury food. The basement area will be very child-friendly with an acquarium and funky art, while the upstairs will offer a light-filled area for cafe customers, with views over the High Road.

"We will have top-quality products ranging from desserts, cakes and savoury food to home-made baklawa and handmade chocolates and we will use proper ingredients in all our food whether savoury or sweet."

People will also be able to order birthday, wedding, or special occasion cakes and desserts.

Anette, who is originally from Finland, said that she was " passionate" about Chiswick and wanted to offer people a cafe and patisserie which had something for all ages and tastes. Chateau Dessert hopes to open from early morning for breakfast until evening.

The premises has been lying empty for the past two years ever since Livia Firth, wife of actor Colin Firth, moved out of the premises. She opened the Eco shop at 213, Chiswick High Road, five years ago, along with her brother Nicola Giuggioli and backed by her husband and friends.

Eco sold homeware and a selection of ethical fashion and gift items and was notable for its 'living roof'. But the shop appeared to close in August 2011 and Livia Firth now concentrates on her Eco-Age website and her consultancy business as well as promoting ethical fashion designs.
