Organised by Chiswick Churches For Justice And Peace
A century after World War I, victims of war are still in need of help and Chiswick Churches for Justice & Peace (CCJP) has called for support for Iraqi Christians in need.
Financial relief is needed for displaced Christian families under the care of the Catholic Chaldean, Syriac, and Orthodox churches in Erbil, northern Iraq. Current economic priorities include the purchase of medical supplies. All aid is channelled through the Bishops of the churches.
To raise funds for this cause, an Organ Recital will be given by Carl Bahoshy, a UK pianist & organist, a St Michael's Church, Elmwood Road, Chiswick W4 3DY, on Thursday 22nd October at 7.30pm. He will perform works by Bach, Barber, Schubert and Vierne, amongst others.
Born of Iraqi Christian parents, Carl Bahoshy plays recitals nationwide in aid of the UK-registered charity, Iraqi Christians in Need. He has raised over £88,000 for the charity to date.
Prior to the recital, there will be a screening of a 25 minute video of the play My Darling Boy, which was written by the vicar of St Michael's, the Rev Martine Oborne. The play explores the issues facing families during WW1, which are relevant to families in a war situation in the present day. St Michael's Players performed this play during the 'Heroes of Chiswick' exhibition in June 2014.
Chiswick Churches for Justice & Peace is an ecumenical association of parishes in Chiswick joined together to stimulate local awareness and action on issues of justice and peace, both at home and abroad.
Entry is free but the retiring collection will be in aid of the charity.
