Bridge Graduates Raise Money For Charity
The money will go to help homeless people
Five young graduates from local training provider The Bridge have raised £310 for St Mungo’s, the charity that helps homeless people.
The graduates, Ares Eygiawan, Keaghan Wilson, Mario Cardoso, Sian Jones and Angelika Gancarz recently joined The Bridge to develop their skills in hospitality and secure jobs. As part of their pre-employment training they were given the task of raising money for charity.
They chose St Mungo’s because they wanted to help the homeless and they were invited to visit the charity to learn about the work it does and where their money would go.
To raise the cash they organised a festive buffet for a number of guests where they auctioned gift boxes filled with Christmas goodies which were given to individuals who live in the St Mungo’s projects. They also raised money by making and selling a CD about the experiences of the people in the St Mungo’s projects and by organising a cake stall at the Christmas Market at Chiswick Business Park where they sold their home made cakes and raised £77.
Based in Chiswick, The Bridge is actively involved in getting the young, unemployed community of Hounslow into work. Working on this charity project is a great confidence booster as they learn to work together as a team and are encouraged to use their initiative and improve their communication skills
St Mungo’s aim is to ensure that homeless and excluded people can improve their quality of life through having a decent place to live, enjoying good health and having something meaning to do. To this end they house, support and care for vulnerable and excluded people who either have been, or are at risk of, sleeping rough and homeless.
