Bookshop In Turnham Green Terrace May Be Demolished

Future uncertain for W4 Love Books which opened recently

The owners of the building which currently houses the new bookshop on Turnham Green Terrace have applied for planning permission to demolish the building. It currently houses the recently re-opened bookshop, W4 Love Books.

The application is for demolition of the existing building and then the erection of a two storey building to provide a retail unit at ground floor and two residential units at first and roof levels.

Chiswick Furniture Galleries, the owners, say they wish to demolish and then rebuild the front section to harmonise with the terrace, but to bring the building up to date from a conservation and energy saving perspective.

This puts the future of W4 Love Books on an uncertain footing- it is understood that the current lease is until next summer.

Owner Ed Barnard said; "Things are going really well for us and the community has really embraced us. I Hope that we can carry on in some form or another amongst the community in Chiswick."

Ed has expanded the children's section to sell more books and has been holding readings and signings, giving a platform to local authors and holding community events.

Opening hours are 10.30 - 8 pm weekdays and 11-6 Sundays.

Prior to that the shop was known as The Chiswick Bookshop, and before that it was Dynasty Man boutique.
