The 'Posh and Becks' Of The Chiswick Art Scene

Bob Osborne and Carrie Reichardt collaborate to become W4's premier art couple

Two well known local artists, Carrie Reichardt and Bob Osborne have joined forces and merged their brands Mad In England and Rebel Not Taken, to become Chiswick's Premier Art couple.

It has been a busy year for Reichardt, whose Tiki Love Truck was for 6 months the star exhibit as part of the Victoria and Albert Museum Disobedient Objects show in South Kensington. The exhibition transferred to The Power House Museum in Sydney, Australia and this year the truck will be returned to Chiswick so that the general public will be able to view it while it is parked outside Reichardt's mosaic house in Fairlawn Grove.

Reichardt won the Winston Churchill Fellowship in 2013 and was funded to advance the craft of community mosaics in the UK by working alongside some of the best practitioners of these skills in Mexico and Chile. Baron Von Reichardt will be escorted by Lord Osborne (who is waiting for his new title to arrive in the post) as she is presented with her Winston Churchill medal at a gala lunch on May 18.

Osborne, who has previously teamed up with Reichardt at the Black Sheep Gallery in Acton Lane, had a book (Bob Osborne Constructions) written about his work in 2013 by the art critic Peter Davies. He was elected a member of The Bath Society of Artists in 2015 and a recent audio-visual work, consisting of found objects, entitled Got No Strings, has been selected to appear on the front cover of the catalogue for this year's Summer Exhibition at the Victoria Museum in Bath (23 April-4 June).

The notorious duo have been busy collaborating on a series of exciting projects and will be joining in, for this year only, with the Artists At Home group and exhibiting their new works at Glebe Street (the house with the blue plaque) over the weekend of June 17-19.

The private view will take place on the Friday evening when the newly installed garden installation featuring The Great Wall of Vagina will be unveiled. There will also be an 'adult content' room displaying renegade pottery and saucy collages by these two visual philosophers, who share an interest in subversive humour and Dadaistic imagery. Osborne will also be following up his popular Hitler rant video about the draconian policies of Hounslow Council with a new piece of mischievous wheelie bin art.

Reichardt and Osborne have been documenting their collaborations on a Facebook page under the name of Baroness Ridehard which is open for people to 'like'. This site contains slideshows of recent 'performances' enacted in The Sex Museum in Amsterdam and The Eric Blair Tattoo Parlour and a short film with musical accompaniment taken up Glastonbury Tor.

The infamous couple have also been approached by Channel 4 to appear in a Celebrity Reality Show later this year.

Bob Osborne has been quoted in a recent interview claiming: "Play our cards right and we could become the Posh and Becks of the Chiswick Art scene". Baroness Von Reichardt also commented: "This is so wrong on every level; I have my reputation to consider".
