Parkinson's Mobility Class Appeals For Support

Move into Wellbeing group bidding for community funding

Parkinson's Mobility Class Moves to St Peter's

Chiswick based charity Move intoWellbeing, which runs a well-regarded class for people with Parkinson’s and other mobility restrictions, is seeking funding to and has appealed for local residents to help them in their bid.

They run regular classes in St. Peter’s Church Hall, Southfield Road and Christ Church, Turnham Green, which are very popular and effective.

"We are seeking to build on them by bidding for some Aviva Community funding. This would enable us to train more teachers, offer more classes and make our classes as accessible as possible.

"To support this application we need your votes please! The process takes only a couple of minutes and is done on-line. Look for Move into Wellbeing® and Dancing for Parkinson's. Please note that only votes from UK Residents are valid."

Closing date is 18th November.

Move into Wellbeing provides bespoke dance and exercise classes for people with Parkinson's disease and other mobility restrictions. A number of the founders are people with Parkinson's or their carers.

Classes are devised and run by Ballet4Life.com, using specially trained and experienced teachers. They consist of a series of fun exercises to music with an emphasis on different muscle groups, co-ordination, balance, flexibility, strength and use of voice. All exercises can be performed seated and no previous experience of dance is necessary.

Ballet4Life’s founder Donna Schoenherr was inspired by her father's plight with Parkinson’s Disease for over 25 years and the classes he took in Colorado USA. His doctor was Dr. Gerald McIntosh and together with Ruth Rice, they created a music and movement therapy class more than 20 years ago.
