ArtsEd Gets 'Outstanding' Ofsted Report In Acting and Musical Theatre

Praise from Ofsted for teaching, facilities, and students

ArtsEd as been again rated as' Outstanding' in an inspection of its Acting and Musical Theatre education.

An Ofsted report which followed an inspection in November 2015 of the BA Acting and BA Musical Theatre praised the ‘outstanding facilities for teachers and students’, including the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Theatre and industry-standard film, radio and televisions studios.

The inspection looked at the provision for 111 students studying the Trinity diploma in Acting and the Trinity diploma in Musical Theatre.

Students were praised for their commitment to the training and professional approach "which empowers them to develop as artists."

The schools "strong focus" on developing experience of film, television and radio helped to build students' skills and confidence in these areas and significantly increased their employability, the report said.

Leadership and management were praised and it was noted that the attraction of investment enabled the school to complete an extensive redevelopment of accommodation and resources, including its new theatre, tv and film studios and common areas for students as well as offices for staff.

Expert staff and guest tutors from the industry were recognised as contributing to the 'outstanding' training which enabled students to ‘progress quickly into professional work on completion of their training’.

Principal Jane Harrison said: "I am so thrilled that the hard work of our entire staff and Board of Trustees has been reflected in this Outstanding Ofsted report once again. We know that all the staff, students and pupils at ArtsEd are hugely talented and professional, so it is very encouraging to have this recognised."

The school also got an Outstanding Rating in its previous Ofsted inspection in 2012.
