Chiswick Student Wins Engineering Award
completes rigorous selection process to gain scholarship
Chiswick student Henri Taxy is one of two Latymer Upper School pupils to be awarded Arkwright Engineering Scholarships.
The scholarships identify students as potential future leaders in engineering and related areas of design.

The Arkwright Scholarships are respected by leading universities and industrial companies and are supported by top engineering employers such as Rolls Royce, BT, BAE Systems, National Grid, Balfour Beatty, Microsoft Research, Thales, The Royal Air Force and The Royal Navy.
Rory from Twickenham, and Henri, were chosen out out of 1103 students who applied for the scholarships.
The Arkwright Scholarships Trust is a charity founded in 1991 that nurtures future leaders in engineering and related areas of design. The scholarships are awarded through a rigorous selection process and support high-calibre young people during their ‘A’ Levels.
2012’s Arkwright Engineering Scholarship Statistics:
- 15,500 students were eligible to apply
- 1103 students applied, endorsed by their teachers. Applicant spanned the British Isles, from Aberdeen to the Island of Jersey
- 496 candidates reached the final interview stage
- 300 Scholarships awarded (subject to sponsorship)
