An evening of Central European and British choral music is coming to Chiswick later this month, as the Addison Oratorio and Chamber Choirs present a programme built around Mozart, Dvořák and contemporary British composition.

The concert takes place at St Peter’s Church, Southfield Road, on Saturday 21 March at 7.30pm.

Music Director Matthew Thomas Morgan says the concert reflects both the choir’s artistic direction and its forthcoming tour.

“We present a programme of works celebrating the best of modern British composition and composers native to, or associated with, Prague, where the Classical Choirs will tour in May 2026. Our programme will include the Dixit Dominus and Magnificat in C by Mozart, a selection of British items, and we will conclude with Dvořák’s Mass in D Major, which is a favourite of British choirs.”

The evening also includes Smetana’s Píseň Česká, further deepening the Czech thread running through the programme. Organist Edward Kemp-Luck joins the choirs, with Morgan conducting.

St Peter’s Church has become a regular home for the Addison Singers’ classical ensembles, offering warm acoustics and an intimate setting for large-scale choral works. With the choir preparing for its Prague tour, this concert offers west London audiences a preview of the repertoire they will take abroad.

This event is generously sponsored by local estate agent Horton and Garton.

New members are always welcome to join the Addison Group of Singers, which is made up of three different singing classes and four different choirs for singers of all ages, abilities and musical interests.

It was founded more than 30 years ago with David Wordsworth as its Musical Director since 1995. Matthew Thomas Morgan was appointed Music Director, Classical at the beginning of 2023 to conduct the Chamber Choir and Oratorio Choir.

The Addison Singers comprises two classical choirs – an auditioned Chamber Choir and larger non-auditioned Oratorio Choir; and two jazz choirs – an auditioned Jazz Ensemble and a larger non-auditioned all-female Jazz Choir. It also offers three different singing classes to meet the needs of beginners, intermediate and the more competent, experienced singer.
