Help create an explosion of colour at Dukes Meadows
Dukes Meadows Trust and Abundance London need help planting nearly 3,000 bulbs in the children’s play area at Dukes Meadows on Sunday 24 November from 11 am.
The play area, built by local charity Dukes Meadows Trust in 2010 is already a great hit with local families, but the Trust wants to make it even more beautiful. The bulbs will bring vibrant colours in spring after the grey winter. Dark blue irises, pale blue small stars, big firework alliums, purple drumsticks – these will make the area a beautiful haze of fragrant blue and mauve next May.
The Trust has also created a new wildflower meadow on the slope at the end of the play area. This will increase biodiversity as well as adding a lovely new feature for summer.
Abundance London helped choose the bulbs and will be involved on the day. All ages are welcome, children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult, but this is something all ages can get involved in: seeing the bulbs coming up next year gives a great feeling of satisfaction.
Please wear warm clothes suitable for working in and sturdy footwear. All tools and guidance on the planting will be provided. Please meet up in the play area at 11am.
