Agreement On 27 Bus Route Extension

Bus will terminate at Chiswick Business Park from November

The long-awaited extension of the 27 bus route to Chiswick Business Park will take place next November.

The bus route extension was initially expected to take place in October 2010.

However, it is understood that the £1.1 million for the extension has now been paid by the Business Park in four instalments, and this will go towards running the extra service for the next five years.

The new route extension is expected to come into operation on November 10th and the bus will terminate at the back of the Business Park. It is not known where London United Bus intend to place any intermediate stops elsewhere in the Park.

The 27 route runs from Chalk Farm to Turnham Green through High Street Kensington and Hammersmith.

One source told ChiswickW4.com that the extension could provide up to 600 extra bus passengers on the route. The 27 is currently supposed to run at a frequency of 5-8 minutes.

It will also give extra choice of buses to commuters at Hammersmith coming to Chiswick Business Park.

However, it is not yet known whether the extension will ease congestion at the Gunnersbury Tube station where local residents groups have made repeated calls for an upgrade of facilities.

Its understood that Hounslow Council have also prevailed upon the bus company to make sure that the driver changeover, which takes place at Stamford Brook, is made efficiently and speedily. This has been a point of congestion in the past.
