The Chiswick Homefields Ward held a by-election in 2004 after one of the Councillors moved out of the area. The contect was won by Gerald McGregor for the Conservative party. Turnout was only 18.2% below the 32.5% seen at the Borough elections in 2002 for the same ward.

WARD DEMOGRAPHICS FOR CHISWICK HOMEFIELDS

Population:
The resident population of Chiswick Homefields in mid 1998 was 7300 people, 3 per cent of the population of Hounslow local authority. 18 percent of Chiswick Homefields's population in mid 1998 were aged under 16, 67 per cent were aged between 16 and 59 and 15 per cent were aged 60 and over. This compares with 21, 63 and 16 per cent respectively for Hounslow as a whole.

Vital Statistics:
A total of 140 live births to mothers usually resident in Chiswick Homefields and 74 deaths of residents of this ward were registered in 1998. These represented crude rates of 19 births and 10 deaths per thousand residents compared with 16 and 8 respectively across the whole of Hounslow local authority.

Employee Jobs:
There were 4400 employee jobs in Chiswick Homefields at September 1998, 4 per cent of the Hounslow total.

Income Support:
In August 1998 there were 335 Income Support claimants in Chiswick Homefields. This represents 6 per cent of the resident population aged 16 or over. For Hounslow the proportion was 9 per cent compared with an average of 8 per cent for Great Britain overall.
