Ken Livingstone describes Turnham Green Service as "frustrating"

"As somebody who actually used Turnham Green quite a bit recently when a friend was in hospital locally, I know how frustrating it is that they trundle by."

In response to questions from local GLA representative, Tony Arbour, the Mayor revealed his personal experience of the daily bug bear of many Chiswick commuters.

The issue was being discussed at a meeting of a GLA body which had been informed of LUL's opposition to the introduction of a full Piccadilly service to Turnham Green. In response to this the Mayor said: "I never believe a word they're saying, so when eventually the Underground comes under the control of TfL I'll be happy to look at the issue again and invite you to go over the figures as well."

Tony Arbour asked the Mayor to undertake for there to be a survey of
the usage of stations on the Piccadilly line. He suggested that occasional stops could be introduced in the interim as the Mayor has suggested for CrossRail. He added: "It is suggested that the pattern of usage of the Piccadilly line varies quite substantially in different places along the line where there is a declining demand, as opposed to an increasing demand at Turnham Green."

He also asked for an audit of passenger demand and usage. Mayor Livingstone's response was to say:"As somebody who actually used Turnham Green quite a bit recently when a friend was in hospital locally, I know how frustrating it is that they trundle by. I'm not certain I do have the power to do an audit. If I have, we will."

The current consultation on the West London Transit along the Uxbridge Road is raising some concerns about displacement of traffic into Chiswick. Some residents have argued that a stop at Turnham Green would to much to mitigate any increase in traffic.
