Sky has submitted plans (P/2026/1174) for a new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) and Padel Court at its Osterley campus, designed to expand staff wellbeing facilities and complement the existing Health and Fitness Centre. The proposal, prepared by engineering firm Arup, outlines two new outdoor sports spaces within the landscaped area between the Wellness and Fitness Building and Sky Hub.
The development is intended for Sky staff and invited guests, not for general public use. Both courts will be integrated into the secure Sky campus, accessible via existing and new pathways from Sky Central and the Fitness Centre. The report specifies that changing, shower and toilet facilities in the Fitness Centre will serve players and spectators, reinforcing that the facilities are part of the company’s internal wellbeing provision rather than a public amenity.
The plans include a MUGA court measuring 34.5 by 19.25 metres, suitable for basketball, netball, tennis and five-a-side football, with floodlighting and seating along the eastern side. The Padel court, a smaller enclosed space with glass walls and a translucent roof canopy, will allow year-round play. Both courts are designed with step-free access and surfaces suitable for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility.
Arup says that the design minimises landscape disruption and biodiversity impact, preserving mature trees and integrating new planting and gabion walls to soften the visual impact. The proposal also includes new spectator seating, improved pathways, and green roofs for nearby bicycle stores.
The project forms part of Sky’s broader sustainability and wellbeing strategy, with the company emphasising environmental gains and accessibility. The report concludes that the courts will “seamlessly integrate with the existing landscaping ‘rooms’” and represent “a sensitive and scaled addition to the Sky Osterley Campus.”
