Over 400 new flats to be built along with offices and shops
The scheme is a joint venture between Telford Homes and Catalyst
Construction work has begun on a huge development at 1-4 Capital Interchange Way with 420 flats to be built in three towers up to 16-storeys high.
The site is to the west of the Citroen garage site on a former scaffolders’ yard. The development was given planning approval in April 2020 for plans that were originally submitted in 2018 after an earlier scheme that proposed towers 22-storeys high incorporating a bus garage were scrapped. The reason for the slow commencement of building work is not known.
The project will be developed by Telford Homes and Catalyst by Design. Following the submission of the original application the proportion of units classed as affordable was increased. In the final plan, 197 of the flats will be classed as affordable rent or shared ownership.

The housing mix will be 116 one bedroom units (27.6%), 272 two bedroom units(64.8%) and 32 three bedroom units (7.6%) which will be rented out by the developers.
The project will also provide 45,000 sq. ft of commercial and retail space
The overall building organisation is three residential blocks that sit above the mixed-use podium deck with a commercial development located at the northern end of the site next to the A4/M4. There will be a linking podium base that will contain shops with street frontage, and undercroft car and cycle parking. Residents will also have access to outdoor recreational spaces and landscaped gardens.

The eastern side of the site fronts onto Capital Interchange Way and fills almost the entire northern edge of this section of the road. To the west of the site is a train line that is currently used by freight trains only. To the south of the site lies the proposed access to the Brentford Stadium development.
Philip Jenkins, Executive Director of Development at Peabody, said, “After much planning, we are pleased start work on this exciting development with Telford homes. Once complete, Capital Interchange Way will blend seamlessly into Brentford, both adding to and complementing the ongoing regeneration in the area. There will be much on offer for future residents – stylish new homes, beautifully landscaped outdoor spaces, and excellent access to nearby shops, transport links and visitor attractions. We look forward to welcoming residents to this fantastic new neighbourhood in 2025.”

With excellent transport links, Capital Interchange Way will deliver future buyers a range of exciting amenities, offering a thriving neighbourhood just a stone's throw away from the development.”
