Assessing damage caused four weeks ago
Councillor Corinna Smart, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Leisure, Hounslow Council, said: “A further detailed assessment started on Tuesday 13th December. Carillion, who manage the borough’s libraries on behalf of Hounslow Council, are awaiting the completion of the structural engineer’s detailed tests and the final results from this which are due next week.
“ While the investigation is still ongoing, both the Council and Carillion have decided that the library will remain temporarily closed until this has been completed and both parties agree it is safe to re-open.
“ The Council is getting increasingly concerned about the delay to the structural investigation and has now requested intervention from a more senior level at Carillion. Both the Council and Carillion apologise for any inconvenience caused to residents and library users while the library is temporarily closed.
“In the meantime, residents and library users can return books and items to any library in Hounslow and can renew items online via http://www.hounslow.info/ or by telephone
