The award recognises commitment to outstanding musical education
Isleworth & Syon school have been awarded membership of Music Mark, a national organisation and the Subject Association for Music Education.
The award is given to organisations who demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality music education for children and young people.
The school was nominated by its local partner, Hounslow Music Service (HMS). Many of the school’s students have been, and still remain, part of HMS, and this year the school developed its partnership so that the Service’s Wednesday evening sessions now take place on the school site.
You can currently follow daily performances from their archives on Twitter @HounslowMusic, featuring many Isleworth & Syon students.
Following the award, Headteacher Mr Ferguson commented, “We are proud to have maintained excellent music provision at school, even during the real-terms budget cuts of recent years. Mr McKeever and Mrs Warner continue to work brilliantly with our students to provide both high-quality lessons and extra-curricular opportunities and we are grateful to our team of peripatetic teachers who give individual and group lessons in school.
“We will always maintain our commitment to music and arts education more widely.”
