The series of summer bandstand concerts organised by The Friends of Watermans Park continues this Saturday (29 July).
Better weather is hoped for after last week’s event had to be cancelled due to the heavy rain.
This Saturday’s performance from 4pm will feature the 30 strong Questors Choir who will sing a selection of 'riparian' songs, ranging from Handel to spirituals via Gilbert and Sullivan, and including Cry me a River, Old Folks at Home, Shenandoah and Moon River.
Elaine Samuels who began performing in folk clubs at the age of only 13, getting a mention in the local press after her first spot in public as “one to watch” will also be appearing, In the 1990s, she began touring solo, up and down the length of the UK & was featured at clubs, festivals, on radio and several times on television. She released three solo albums before forming the first incarnation of her folk-rock Kindred Spirit Band, with whom she has released a further six albums and notably performed at Glastonbury Festival, Liverpool's famous Cavern Club and Cambridge Rock Festival to name a few.
The charismatic showman Marky Dawson with a huge voice who was scheduled to perform last week will be covering Musical Theatre, Jazz and Rock - alongside piano chops which could make Jerry Lee Lewis blush He will close the show and the season of Summer Bandstands.
If it’s pouring again the show will re-locate to the nearby Musical Museum so don’t let the weather put you off coming to see and hear some great performers.

The Friends of Watermans Park's main aim is to help protect, conserve and enhance Watermans Park, its environs and access to the River Thames for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.
It was formed by a group of local people who envisage a vibrant community amenity which can host community events as well as an attractive recreational area for all.
