Join an Isleworth Riverside walk this Sunday
Find out about the history of Isleworth Riverside
The new series of walks by Hounslow Heritage Guides continues this Sunday (3 July) with an Isleworth Riverside walk.
The tour takes in magnificent Thames views, a man-made river created in Tudor times; dwellings built in Charles II’s reign, the site of the pottery, and a one time home of landscape painter J.M.W. Turner. As an added incentive, teas are available at All Saints Church to round off the walk. To join the walk be outside All Saint's Church on Church Street at 2.30pm.
The annual local history walks hosted by Hounslow Heritage Guides restarted on Jubilee Weekend with a circular walk on Hounslow Heath. This walk explored the site of major army camps for over 500 years as well as gunpowder mills, the first civil airport and a major haunt of highwaymen.
On 5 June there was a linear walk exploring connections of Royalty with Isleworth including Henry VIII’s coffin passing through and the launch of Gloriana presented to the Queen for her Golden Jubilee.
The normal programme of walks will now continue. From June to October there will be walks on the first Sunday of each month in Isleworth, in Brentford on the second Sunday and in Chiswick on the third.
All start at 2.30pm and cost £3 (children free). There’s no need to book – pay the Guide on the day.
