A consultation is being held on a proposal to introduce access restrictions around Gunnersbury Catholic School during drop-off and pick-up times.
Following discussions with the school and local councillors, the council is planning to implement a School Streets scheme.
Access restrictions will cover the whole length of The Ride and Clitherow Road, and will operate between Monday-Friday, 8.15 – 9.15am and 2.45 – 3.45pm, during school term time with exemptions for those who live within the zone, visitors to residents, those with disabilities with a blue badge, easily recognisable delivery vehicles (e.g. supermarket lorries), and school staff.
To compliment the school street restriction, and prevent obstructive parking on the neighbouring main road, A3002 Boston Manor Road, it is also proposed to introduce red route restrictions. Double red line No Stopping “At Any Time” restrictions would be implemented at the junction of Boston Manor Road and The Ride, and opposite this junction between the bus stop and the crossing.
Red Route controls place strict limitations on parking, preventing not only waiting and loading, but stopping also. They can be enforced by CCTV, unlike most other parking restrictions such as yellow lines.
Both the school street and red route restrictions will be enforced by the council through the use of CCTV, which could be either mobile or fixed cameras.
The council says it is making the proposals as part of its promotion active travel in the hope that they will encourage children to walk and cycle to school, reduce pollution and improve safety outside the school.
Feedback on the scheme can be provide online and needs to be submitted by 11 December.

Like Reading Articles Like This? Help Us Produce More This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism. Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets. We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more. However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do. We are therefore asking our readers to consider offering financial support to these efforts. Any money given will help support community and public interest news and the expansion of our coverage in this area. A suggested monthly payment is £8 but we would be grateful for any amount for instance if you think this site offers the equivalent value of a subscription to a daily printed newspaper you may wish to consider £20 per month. If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site. One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
