Brentford Barbell Club is celebrating a remarkable achievement after returning from the 2025 Powerlifting World Championships in South Africa with four gold medals, including two world titles for rising star Tanya Khan and a successful title defence by club founder and coach Ali Hasanzade.

The club, has become a powerhouse for strength sports in the area and is known for its combination of an inclusive ethos with elite coaching. Brentford Barbell Club trains lifters of all ages and abilities, with a focus on performance, resilience, and community.

Representing Great Britain, Ali Hasanzade defended his World Championship title, continuing his reign at the top of international powerlifting. Hasanzade, a world champion and strength coach, founded Brentford Barbell Club to build a culture of high performance and support for serious lifters .

Joining him on the podium was 21-year-old Tanya Khan, who claimed two gold medals in the 56kg Female Raw category, winning both the Junior and Open divisions. Her double victory marks her as one of the UK’s most promising young lifters.

Also bringing home gold was 54-year-old Jason Riley, who triumphed in his category, rounding out the club’s medal haul.

The club offers group sessions, 1-to-1 coaching, school programmes, workshops, and competition hosting, and has built a loyal following among lifters and coaches across London.

Founded by Hasanzade, who also leads British MMA, the club has been instrumental in promoting strength training and athletic development in the area. Its members regularly compete at national and international levels, and the club is listed among British Powerlifting’s approved clubs.
