A new studio facility in Acton is to be the home of the ITV reality show Big Brother.
Versa Studios has announced that has acquired an additional 200,000 square feet of space adjacent to its existing location on Kendal Avenue where it is planning to build a new studio which will host the series going forward including the Celebrity edition.
The nightly Late & Live show is to be filmed next door at the existing studio. Versa has fibre-linked the facilities so that its TV broadcast technology can be connected to all of its studios.
The new space will provide versatile infrastructure for TV, film, and live productions, and its connectivity designed specifically for live broadcast TV shows and it is hoped this will attract both UK and international productions, particularly from the US.
This expansion brings Versa’s total studio space across the UK to 600,000 square feet, with additional space set to be added as part of its future plans.
Charlie Ingall, Versa’s Executive Director, said, “VERSA’s expansion in London has been part of our ambitious growth strategy, and it further elevates our business as a first choice for large scale, high profile productions such as Big Brother. The significant investment we have made in this expansion gives us the ability to create long term homes for our clients, and in turn support the TV and Film community.”
Councillor Peter Mason, Ealing Council Leader added, “Our borough has a long and proud history of film and tv production, and today it remains a hotbed of industry expertise. We have a thriving creative supply chain sector, and Ealing is home to nine times more creative manufacturing spaces than the London average. We have highlighted the creative sector, including film, as a priority for future economic growth, and this significant expansion at VERSA Studios will support our ambition to create more good jobs for local people.”
