Fire Guts Restaurant on the High Street

An Acton restaurant and the flats above it have been destroyed by fire.
The blaze at Arriba Arriba at 31 Acton High Street broke out on Friday evening (8 July) at around 6.32pm and ten fire engines and seventy firefighters were called to the incident. Fire crews from Acton, Ealing, Hammersmith, Royal Park and other surrounding fire stations were called out.
It took them until after midnight to get the fire under control.
The two-storey building which had a restaurant on the ground floor and flats above was completely destroyed but no injuries were reported.
Next door at the West London Trades Union Club, the funeral drinks for former vice-president, Bill Wilson had been taking place but most of the guests had left when firefighters entered the building advising people to leave. The club is now closed pending an inspection from the borough surveyor.

The incident led to the closure of the High Street and significant traffic disruption in the area.
The people who run the nearby Charmy's newsagent have been badly affected by the fire and a fundraising page has been set up for them. All their stock is fire damaged and they currently can't live in their flat which is above the premises.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
