Police rule out any connection with last month's attack near the pond

The forensics tent at the scene in Acton Park

A body was discovered in Acton Park near the pond on Tuesday morning (2 June), prompting a police presence in the area .

Officers were called shortly after 9am and established a small cordon while paramedics attended and a forensics tent was set up. The Metropolitan Police later confirmed that the death is being treated as non-suspicious, and the matter has now been passed to the coroner.

The discovery was made close to the site of a recent serious assault in the park, but police confirmed that the incident is not connected.

The earlier attack, which took place near the pond and tennis courts in April, left a man in his thirties with life-threatening injuries after he was found with a severe axe wound to his back.

In that case, Adam Abdillahi, 45, of Australia Road, W12, was charged with attempted murder, while a second man was arrested and later released on bail. A large cordon remained in place for several days as detectives carried out forensic work and appealed for witnesses. The investigation into that assault is ongoing.

The recent discovery, however, is being treated as a tragic but non-criminal incident. The park reopened fully by late morning, and officers confirmed there is no risk to the public.
