Police Officer Found with Cocaine Arrested at Acton Station
Claimed he had forgotten to log bags of Class A drug as evidence

A police officer has been sacked after he was found to have brought cocaine to work.
Detective Constable Hashim Waseem was arrested at Acton Police station after another officer had found a bag of cocaine on the floor in a Custody Suite at Heathrow on 6 July, 2022.
When officers analysed CCTV, they saw that DC Waseem, who was attached to the West Area BCU, had dropped the bag when he was attempting to scan his warrant card to gain access.
When he was arrested, he was found to have two more bags inside his warrant card holding.
He claimed he had found the bags ‘at some point’ and ‘some time ago’ and had put them into his warrant card holder with the intention of asking what to do with them but had forgotten to do so. He denied purchasing or taking drugs.
This defence was dismissed as implausible by a misconduct hearing particularly as he had told his fellow officers when he was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine that they would not find any drugs on him.
DC Waseem did not attend the hearing and no representations were made on his behalf. The panel ordered his immediate dismissal without notice due to ‘discreditable conduct’.
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson said, “Our officers know the impact that drugs can have on our communities and it is extremely concerning that DC Waseem thought it was acceptable to be carrying drugs while at work.
"He should never have been in possession of drugs on or off duty and he has rightly been dismissed from the Met. There is no place for such conduct in the organisation."
